Porta de entrada da civilizao portuguesa no Brasil, Salvador foi oficialmente declarada como cidade em 29 de maro de 1549. Quase cinco dcadas depois, a capital da Bahia conta com mais de 2,7 milhes de habitantes espalhados por 706,799 km. Em junho, a Arena Fonte Nova, estdio local, receber os jogos Itlia x Brasil, Nigria x Uruguai e a disputa do terceiro lugar da Copa das Confederaes.

The city has a very traditional Carnival, that receive every year thousands of tourists that look for fun and entertainment.

Para receber as partidas da Copa do Mundo de 2014, a cidade de Salvador a por vrias reformas estruturais. As principais intervenes acontecem no Aeroporto Internacional Lus Eduardo Magalhes e no Terminal Martimo de Salvador. O gasto geral do municpio, incluindo a Arena Fonte Nova, gira em torno de R$ 642 milhes. Somente o estdio foi responsvel por R$ 591 milhes.

To have World Cup matches, Salvador is going through many structural reforms. The main changes are happening in the International Airport Lus Eduardo Magalhes and in the Salvador Harbor. Including the reform of the Fonte Nova Stadium, the estimated costs to have the event round about R$ 642 million. The football stadium reform only spent R$642 million.

De acordo com a Associao Brasileira da Indstria de Hotis (ABIH), Salvador conta com 35 mil leitos de hospedagem. Incluindo o restante da Regio Metropolitana, o nmero sobe para 50 mil. O planejamento que at a Copa de 2014, mais de 70 mil leitos estejam disposio dos turistas.

According to the Brazilian Hotels Association, Salvador has 35.000 hotel beds. Including the surrounding area, this number goes up to 50.000. Until the 2014 World Cup the plan is to get to 70.000 hotel beds to receive tourists.

Palco principal do futebol na Bahia, a Arena Fonte Nova foi inaugurada no dia 5 de abril de 2013. O primeiro jogo do estdio, que tem capacidade para 55 mil torcedores, aconteceu dois dias depois, entre Bahia e Vitria, pelo Campeonato Baiano. O Rubro-negro no teve nenhuma dificuldade sequer para fazer 5 a 1 sobre o seu maior rival.

The main stage in the state, the Fonte Nova Stadium was inaugurated in April. The opening match in the stadium that has 55.000 seats, happened between the two most popular teams: Bahia versus Vitria. Vitria had no problem in defeating its opponent, with a large score: 5 to 1.
